FH Global Summit Session 8: Prioritizing solutions to prevent inherited cardiovascular disease

Atheroscelrotic heart disease is the number 1 cause of death worldwide. LDL cholesterol is the single most modifiable risk. 1 in 5 heart attacks under the age of 50 estimated to be caused by familial hypercholesterolemia. Lipoprotein(a) is also a significant genetic risk factor for heart attacks and strokes, however Lp(a) is not routinely screened for today. In the final and 8th session of the FH Global Summit, Katherine Wilemon, founder and CEO of the FH Foundation will highlight solutions to systematically address barriers to life-saving diagnosis and care. Dr. Eric Sijbrands, professor of vascular medicine at the Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, Netherlands, will overview key themes from the summit series and highlight key implications for the field moving forward.
